The Refuge

Mountain refuge on the classic Mont Valier (2838m) hiking trail

and the Pass’Aran, Tour du Valier, Chemin de la Liberté et Retrouvance Valier circuits.

The refuge was built in 1912 and has been guarded since 1976. It belongs to the Community of Communes Couserans Pyrenees – it is located in the commune of Bordes/Uchentein in the Mont Valier national reserve in the heart of the Parc Naturel Régional des Pyrénées Ariégeoises.

We have been the caretakers (via SAS les Estagnous under public service delegation) for 12 and 17 years respectively.

A rich history, numerous activities (via-ferrata, fishing, mountaineering…), various entertainment events and a preserved natural environment will ensure you an enjoyable stay.

FACILITIES

74 sleeping facilities in different dormitories,

Hot and cold drinks and mountain catering service.

Bed sheets or sleeping bag liners are required,

Mattresses, duvets and slippers are provided for all.

Domestic animals are not accepted.

Tents with insulating pads are available for rent,

FOOD

A generous cuisine using local produce from the valley of Ariège.

Different menus each evening.

Fresh meals prepared each day to be served in the evening ,,,

One service for all ! Served at 19h30 !
